Product Information. Like its console predecessor Dokapon Kingdom, Dokapon Journey is a game that combines the adventure, character development, and turn-based battles of a fantasy RPG with the head-to-head style of a competitive board game. The wealth-obsessed citizens in the Kingdom of Dokapon have lost faith in their king because ongoing monster attacks have ruined the economy. Subsequently, the King of Dokapon offers his throne and his daughter, Princess Penny, to any hero willing and able to battle the invading creatures.Players begin by selecting a character, choosing from eight different jobs, and assigning bonus attribute points. The distance traveled on each turn is determined by spinning a The Game of Life-esque wheel, and depending on where players land, they may end up fighting, earning items, or saving a village. Up to four human or AI opponents can compete in five different game modes: 'Story Mode,' which is an eight-chapter adventure; 'Greed Mode,' in which the player with the most cash wins; 'Liberation Race', where gamers compete to free the most towns; 'Collect-A-Thon,' where players find or steal all the orbs of a certain color; and 'Death Match,' a competition based on body count.

Love this series and this one is great!I bought this game as a birthday gift for my best friend since he is a huge fan of the third game in this series, Dokapon Kingdom. Neither of us knew that there were two other games before Dokapon Kingdom, but when I found out, I knew I had to get them for him. This game is just like its successor. The graphics are good for a DS game and the gameplay is great. The only thing that bothered me when playing it was that if you do download play, the other players who don't have the game don't get to see everything that is happening, but they were minor things. IndepthSo this is a video game that plays like a very complex board game/rpg. This has a steep learning curve so if you havent played any of the series you may want to start with the ps2 version.
This one is pretty amazing and if you have friends to play with its even better, but each person needs a card, one of the reasons this game is expensive is because so few were made and you need multiple copies to play with others. If you like rpgs and board games this is definitely a unique game thats worth trying out.Verified purchase: No.
